Functional Capacity Evaluation

What are they?

A Functional Capacity Evaluation is an assessment containing a series of tests to determine a employees physical ability to meet the functional demands associated with their pre- injury role. These may be implemented to determine if an employee is suitable for a role they are completing, or to assisting them with their recovery and/or return to work.

What do these include?

These assessments involve:

  • The completion of a pre-screening questionnaire designed to identify any previous medical history.
  • Review of the current or proposed workplace duties.
  • A physical assessment designed to assess the employee's capacity to complete these specific duties.
  • An individualised report provided to the employer with recommendations relating to their functional capacity.

Why are they important?

These evaluations match the worker’s physical abilities to the physical demands of the job requirements which are required within their current role. These evaluations are important to ensure employees have the appropriate physical capacity to complete their required duties, and ensure the employer is providing appropriate duties within this capacity.

Where can these be completed?

We are able to complete these on site, if preferred, or in the Hobart area to all for easy access for your prospective employees.
